National Book UP Awards for UP Press books on Science and on the Social Sciences

The National Book Development Board and the Manila Critics Circle hosted a formal ceremony on November 22, 2014 at the Marble Hall, Museum of the Filipino People, National Musuem, City of Manila to fete the recipients of the 33rd National Book Awards (books published in 2013), including two books published by The University of the Philippines Press.    

Best Book on Science was “Science Philippines: Essays on Science by Filipinos”, Volume II, edited by Gisela P. Padilla-Concepcion (University of the Philippines Press).  

Winner of the Elfren S. Cruz Prize for Best Book in the Social Sciences was “Tapping Ink, Tattooing Identities: Tradition and Modernity in Contemporary Kalinga Society, North Luzon, Philippines”, by Analyn V. Salvador-Amores (University of the Philippines Press).

Former UP Mindanao Chancellor Ricardo M. de Ungria, whose book of poetry m’mry wire was published by University of Santo Tomas Publishing House was also among the awarded authors.
