The 2026 International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement Asia-Pacific Community of Practice (IARSLCE APCoP) International Conference will be hosted by the University of the Philippines System with the theme “Ethics of Service-Learning and Community Engagement”.

The conference aims to feature innovative methodologies in service-learning and community engagement research, and spark conversations on ethical best practices, the diversity of ethical standards, the complexities of international collaboration, including culturally determined norms and values, and the challenges of asserting universal standards.

Call for Papers

We invite researchers, educators, practitioners, community engagement professionals, and students to submit abstracts of scientific works or programs that align with the conference theme to be considered for poster or oral presentations and workshops.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Community engagement, partnership, and entrepreneurship

  • Faculty/educator/practitioner-scholar engagement and professional development

  • Service-learning and community engagement in graduate, secondary, and co-curricular education

  • Transdisciplinary, intercultural and global learning through service-learning and community engagement

  • Service-learning and community engagement cases: institutional model

  • International service-learning and community engagement

  • Indigenous knowledge practices in service-learning and community engagement

Presentation Formats

The conference offers three presentation formats.

Paper Presentations

A submission for a 15-minute paper presentation is an individual paper with one or more co-authors featuring service-learning and/or community engagement research and innovative practices.

Poster Presentations

Poster Presentations offer participants an opportunity to showcase and discuss their current research or programmes and community partnerships that are informed by research or yield research opportunities. The projects could be completed or be in various stages of development. Student submissions will be accepted for poster presentations, and they will be handled separately with a student track.

Interactive Workshops

Interactive Workshops are 60-minute participatory sessions designed to engage participants in hands-on activities, discussions, and collaborative learning about practical tools, strategies, or skills related to service-learning or community engagement.
