Nurse-led eHealth cardiac rehabilitation helps patients transition to home life
07 Jul 2025

This research looks at how people with coronary heart disease (CHD) view a nurse-led eHealth cardiac rehabilitation (NeCR) program. The program included a website, a tele-monitoring device, and a social media chatroom. Interviews with 18 participants showed that the NeCR program helped fill gaps in cardiac rehabilitation services in China, encouraging behavior changes and increasing social support. Participants suggested making the website more user-friendly, improving symptom management during activities, and ensuring privacy in the chatroom. The study concludes that the NeCR program is a good option for home rehabilitation after leaving the hospital, recommending better usability, immediate support during exercise, and secure online interactions. These findings are important for creating effective eHealth cardiac rehabilitation services.
Evidence from this paper supports the feasibility and acceptability of a nurse-led intervention to assist patients in transitioning to their home life after cardiac event and intervention. Considering the detailed reporting of the intervention design (protocol paper and evidence review paper) and the local healthcare context (available technology, acceptance on online consultations, social media use), the nurse-led intervention can be replicated and tested.
