The UP Center for Education and Development is a regional and international hub for policy engagement that examines the role of education in achieving broader development goals.
About the Center
The UP Board of Regents approved the establishment of the Center for Education and Development (CEDev) during its 1407th BOR meeting.
Housed under the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA), the System-level Center explores and advances the role of education as a driver of equitable, inclusive, and sustainable socioeconomic development.
The CEDev generates high-quality interdisciplinary research, inform policy discourse, strengthen institutional capacity, and enhance the University’s engagement with national and regional reform agendas.
It is designed to complement and collaborate with existing academic and research units across the UP System focused on education and development.
Core Objectives
Capacity Building & System Integration
To inform policy, strengthen institutional capacity, and advance research, among others, to position education as a central driver of equitable, inclusive, and sustainable socioeconomic development.
Regional Leadership & Collaboration
To position UP as a regional hub for comparative and international studies on education and development.
Knowledge Advancement
To generate rigorous, interdisciplinary studies that examine how education systems contribute to social equity, economic resilience, and sustainable development.
Policy Engagement & Reform Support
To translate research into actionable policy insights that inform institutional, national, and regional decision-making.
Activities
The Center will undertake various activities to achieve its objectives, maintaining a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral engagement.
