Description
In keeping with Republic Act 9163, otherwise known as the “National Service Training Program” or NSTP, the UP College of Education (UPCEd) offers Literacy Training Service (LTS) to train our students to “teach literacy and numeracy skills to school children, out-of-school youths and other segments of society in need of their services.”
Through our LTS classes for this past Academic Year, the UPCEd-NSTP was able to conduct a program for literacy and reading remediation for students who were identified as having reading proficiency levels that are below their grade level. We have partnered with nearby Community Learning Hubs, such as the one in Pook Aguinaldo, and with nearby public schools, like Krus Na Ligas High School, to identify beginning or emerging readers who might benefit from a reading remediation or literacy program.
In each site, our students were able to (1) conduct an initial reading skills’ assessment of our target learners, (2) implement reading sessions and other kinds of remediation strategies in order to enhance students’ communication skills in both English and Filipino, and (3) assess whether these reading sessions were able to enhance our learners’ reading skills.
This community visit aims to familiarize the participants with our partner communities.

Description
The “Lakbay Pamana Tour” of Malolos is a meaningful cultural and historical journey that immerses participants in the rich heritage, traditions, and living history of the city known as the Cradle of the First Philippine Republic. Designed as both an educational and community encounter experience, the tour connects visitors with local communities, cultural workers, artisans, historians, and heritage advocates who continue to preserve and promote the identity of Malolos through their stories, crafts, food, and traditions.
The Lakbay Pamana Tour serves as a platform for documenting and appreciating the city’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Participants visit historic churches, ancestral houses, heritage landmarks, local food destinations, and traditional craft communities while learning about their cultural significance and contribution to the local identity of Malolos. The tour also highlights the importance of safeguarding community knowledge, oral histories, local practices, and artistic expressions for future generations.
Through interactive learning and cultural immersion, the Lakbay Pamana Tour strengthens heritage awareness, promotes sustainable community-based tourism, and encourages greater public appreciation for the cultural treasures and historical legacy of Malolos City.

Description
The BIDANI Network Program is a flagship extension program of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, designed to improve nutrition. It employs a transdisciplinary nutrition-in-development strategy implemented by state colleges/universities (SUCs) and local government units (LGUs) at the barangay level. The program reflects the integration of instruction, research, and extension through meaningful service learning and community engagement.
Among its pioneer catchment areas is the Municipality of Nagcarlan, where BIDANI’s community-based approaches to nutrition and development have been continuously strengthened over time. Within the BIDANI Network Program catchment areas, learning extends beyond the classroom as participants engage directly with communities, grounding academic knowledge in real-world contexts and contributing to a shared understanding of local nutrition and development challenges. This initiative strengthens partnerships and reaffirms BIDANI’s commitment to learning with communities.
